CLA — History

1932 Original creation took place at the Crystal Lake Golf Course. Click here for a scan of the original incorporation document as Crystal Lake Cottage Owners Association.

1980 Crystal Lake Cottage Owners Association changes its name to Crystal Lake Association, commonly known as the CLA.

1991 CLA amended its By-Laws.

1993 CLA wrote a grant with Montcalm County Police and DNR to fund a police boat. The CLA also pays for manning this boat.

2001 CLA began water quality testing and monitoring program utilizing a recognized environmental organization located in Grand Rapids.

2001 CLA posted its first website on crystalonine.org.

2009 CLA began volunteer participation with MICORPS water quality testing program http://www.micorps.net.

2009 Crystal online forum becomes active.

2011 CLA began involvement in the Crystal Winterfest.

2011 Fireworks barges get new bracket system, tow ropes, anchors, chain, rope and shackles. Two receive new decks.

2011 Fred Engle and Bob Saukas become directors and the board again votes Steve Meinhardt President, Bonnie Kanitz VP, Kim Siburt Secretary/Treasurer.

2012 Robin Pline and Michael O’Brien become directors and the board again votes Steve Meinhardt President, Bonnie Kanitz VP, Kim Siburt Treasurer, and make Roxy Eaton Secretary.

2013 The board again votes Steve Meinhardt President, Bonnie Kanitz VP, Kim Siburt Treasurer, and Roxy Eaton Secretary.
