Next township board meeting is Aug 10, 2011.  They will be discussing changing the township from a "General Law" to a "Charter" township.  I would suggest those interested to attend this next board meeting for further information.

What was the outcome of the charter township discussion at the board meeting?

Only one member of the township board was interested in changing, so for now, they voted to stay as a general law township.

Other news:  A lawsuit has been filed against the township implicating Ordinance 15A (Anti-funneling).  The township attorney, Cliff Bloom, has been involved.  From my understanding, if has to do with the property next to the Wet Spot.   They are very careful not to discuss details on this lawsuit at the monthly board meetings.

Hi Bonnie: Would you announce on the Crystal Lake Association website date of the meet the candidates forum? It will be 7 p.m. July 26 at the Crystal Twp Community Center.

Target audience are people not familiar with the candidates. Chris Johnston who is running unopposed in the Republican primary for township supervisor will try to attend even though he has another commitment at this time. He will send a statement. Many people are not familiar with him. I understand lake residents may not be eligible to vote but I expect they are interested in township representation nonetheless.

Besides trustee and treasurer township candidates, the two Republicans running for county drain commission will attend. Dennis Lance currently is our township treasurer and will oppose Sandra Raines, currently employed in the drain commission office. This office has a major impact on the township that people need to be aware of.

Guess Iíve rambled enough. The purpose of the notice is to make people aware of the forum. If they cannot attend but have questions to ask the candidates, they may forward questions to me to be asked Thursday night.

Regards,
Rosemary Horvath
