Last night at the township regular board meeting, Bob Naumann stated he had alot on his plate and he wanted to know if it was ok with us to postpone the meetings until January.  We agreed.  So, no meeting Oct 21st.  Next meeting will be Jan 20th at 7 pm.  This will give us time to do more research and maybe seek legal representation.

At the township board meeting last night, it was requested to push back the committee meeting on Ordinance 15A for another month to Feb 17th.  I will confirm date/time and notify all committee members prior to the February meeting!

Thanks for the report, Bonnie!

Did anyone say why this is being pushed back again? I'm curious is all. No agenda.

Best regards... Michael

Since Bob is so busy and keeps pushing the meeting date back, might it be wiser on our part to ask to have the meeting pushed back even more so that the lakefront property owners who are not around can be available.

Lot's on their plate!  Repainting or residing the township hall and library....  Sewer system review indicates our 30 year old system needs some TLC to the tune of about 300K.  Talking about raising the rates!  Bike path - stalled and seems to be going no where!  The water well for the fire department needs to be enlarged for better flow rate so we can get a better class rating for our fire department which would help insurance costs for all of us, etc., etc.   There is alot on their agenda and they have a section called "parking lot" (issues that need to be addressed, but they have more pressing priorities).  Thankfully, ordinance 15A has been relegated to the parking lot!  We will keep trying to push it back to when our full complement of membership is present!

Meeting on Sept 8th contained the following:
- Changing out Deputy Sheriff from Jamie Grinzinger to Deputy Steve Snyder.  Jamie has been with us for the past 16 months and township will ask Sheriff if our local deputy's can be assigned to Crystal for longer periods of time.
- Sewer system remains under Township administration.  The county drain commissioner is working on a new contract with Crystal Township to keep oversight in the Township, but still coordinating through the Drain Board.
- Halloween will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct 31st, for the little and large trick or treaters.  Time for the trick or treating was not established.
- A possible revision of Ordinance 14 was reviewed, but they did discover the fines were addressed in a prior revision.
- Township will be doing leaf collection this fall and frowns on leaf burning.  The leaf collection truck needs new hose and doors on collection trailer.  Repairs have been approved.  Everyone is encouraged to rake leaves to curbside for collection.
- I asked if the application to DNRE for the public beach buoys has been accomplished.  We have been asking about this since March 2010.  Bob Nauhman, township clerk, has taken this on.  He said he has to draw a map and submit to DNRE where buoys will be placed.  He will be the POC on this subject and the application.  Let's hope they do get the permit and are able to put the buoys back in next summer before we have a major tragedy!
- As reported in today's Greenville "Daily News", the township has purchased the elementary school for $1.  They are looking for suggestions on how to put this facility to use.

Yesterday (Jan 12th) was the first township board meeting in the new Crystal Township Community Center (formally the elementary school).  I have to say it was a major improvement for meeting space!  The old township hall will be shut down (to save utilities) as soon as possible.  Discussions ensued on rental charges for the gym ($200 per day for function/event) or $20/hr to shoot some hoops, etc.  Kitchen rental is $100 per event.  All rentals will require a $50 cleaning deposit.  These are temporarily approved rates and may change in the future.

Eventually, they hope to move the library and Eight Cap into the community center.

Deputy Sheriff Steve Snyder reported issuing 6 traffic violations, and 3 DUI arrests plus 6 citations.  What surprised me and several others is the fact we now have a medical marijuana house here in Crystal on Park and Lincoln.  The county is wrestling with what controls/options they need to institute on this issue.

Big time snowmobile races will be held at Crystal Lake on Feb 19th and 20th.  Adam Eller and Chris Ryan are the POC's and this is a professional racing event.  It will also bring business to Crystal during the slow time of the year.  DNR has approved the permits.

The new water well at the fire department is not panning out well.  The board does not want to invest more $$ into a situation that will not give the required flow rate needed.

Ordinance 15A remains in the "Parking Lot" of issues.  No actions forthcoming.

At last week's board meeting, it was announced the old township hall will be auctioned off at high noon on July 9th.  Also, they are looking for a clerk/receptionist at the new township community center for approx 17.5 hrs per week.   If you are over 55 and willing to work for min wage, please contact one of the township board members.  Also, new sand is being put on the public beach and swim buoys DNR application is being processed.  There may be some problems with getting signatures of owners of co-located beach front....
